Daniele De Donno was born in Lecce, the Baroque architecture city par excellence in the Puglia Region, and grew up in Matera, Basilicata, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre which remains for Daniele a refuge from the modern world.

A passion for seafaring led him to explore the far corners of the world, and having spotted Table Mountain on the horizon in 1998 he decided to settle in Cape Town, fascinated by this incredible land of South Africa.
Daniele worked in the nautical sector for 20 years, until in 2018 he started a project based on an idea that he had been brewing for some time: to introduce high quality Italian Ginseng Coffee here in South Africa, thus GINSANG® was created.

The name and logo for the company were born out of the collaboration of a team of 6 men and 6 women from the Zulu, Xhosa and Ndebele cultures.
The logo includes colours and geometries inspired by the blankets used by women of South African cultures to carry their babies.

In the name, which uses a local font, you can find a stylized protea, the geometry of the South African flag and a tribute to the South Africa National Gallery (S.A.N.G) in Cape Town.
